Minimum Theremin Kit 101
(Back to Harrison Instruments' Main Page)
This kit provides most of the materials required to construct the new "101" version of the Minimum Theremin, a simple pitch-only instrument. It is a perfect "first theremin" project for those who want to learn basic theremin principles, while enjoying the experience of building an electronics project.
The original Minimum Theremin was first introduced on "Art's Theremin Page" in 1999, and the new "101" version in 2006. Thousands of them have been built world-over. By popular demand, this kit is now being offered by Harrison Instruments to make constructing one easy. Complete assembly instructions are included on this website. As with all our products, top-quality name-brand components are supplied to help ensure a great kit-building experience.
Constructing the Minimum Theremin Kit requires soldering components and wires to a printed circuit board. We recommend this kit for builders age 15 and older who have previous soldering experience and are familiar with electronic components and basic assembly tools.
Complete Assembly Instructions for the
Minimum Theremin Kit are contained
on this website (see link, below). An optional ten-page printed
assembly
guide is sold separately.
The Minimum Theremin Kit does not include tools, solder, an enclosure,
or
antenna.
An optional antenna kit may be purchased separately, as described in
the
Assembly Instructions.
The Minimum Theremin Kit will drive a typical 32 ohm "earbud" at a low
volume,
but it is not designed to drive loudspeakers directly. It may be
connected
to a user-supplied amplifier/loudspeaker.
Please read the IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR BUILDING AND USING THIS KIT below.
